The Star Prepares To Shine - Official Opening Ceremony Tonight
Sydney’s new one-of-a-kind leisure and entertainment venue, The Star, is ready to premiere with the first of a series of launch events to be held tonight, Thursday September 15.
The $860 million transformation of Star City includes the re-orientation of the building to embrace Sydney Harbour and the city skyline. Once complete, The Star will boast more than 20 restaurants, bars and cafes, a new luxury boutique hotel and 16 room spa, upscale retail collection, a 4000 capacity entertainment centre and world class gaming areas.
Created by internationally acclaimed events producer David Grant, tonight’s ceremonial opening will feature a dazzling light and visual arts display, centred on The Star’s new glass façade harbour-side entrance.
Around 250 guests will be picked up by motor yachts from The Rocks and brought to Pyrmont Bay where they’ll walk the red carpet to a viewing platform. The new harbourside frontage is made up of 147 flags of clear glass which will form a giant screen on which a spectacular visual display will unfold.
The colourful celebration will feature a special appearance by an Australian entertainment icon before guests dine at two of The Star’s new signature restaurants – BLACK by ezard and Balla.
Making the most of stunning views of the harbour and city, leading Melbourne chef Teage Ezard is making his Sydney debut with his modern steak and seafood BLACK by ezard restaurant while Stefano Manfredi will make his much anticipated return to Sydney, cooking modern Milanese cuisine at Balla.
The Star’s Managing Director Sid Vaikunta says: “Around 250 people will get a taste of the dining experience that is set to become a hallmark of The Star. We’ve assembled a great line-up of chefs who have come from across the globe and Australia to help make The Star a one-of-a kind entertainment and dining destination, offering amazing experiences all under the one roof.”
Dinner at BLACK by ezard and Balla will be followed by an exclusive after-party at The Star’s new cocktail lounge, Cherry, while live music venue Rock Lily will be rocking with hot Australian band Potbelleez.
