Hopes for Online gambling ban to be repealed - 25th February 2009

In 2006 congress passed a bill to ban gambling in America. This was then signed into law by President George Bush. The law made online gambling illegal in America and there were heavy penalties put into place for those who profited from internet gambling. Even companies that promoted online gambling were penalized.

This law forced European companies such as PartyGaming and 888.com out of the US market. These European companies still face criminal prosecution for their activities before the ban was imposed. The founder of PartyGaming, Anurag Dikshit pleaded guilty to online gambling charges and agreed to pay $300million in fines. He could still face a custodial sentence.

EU officials claim the US put pressure on Dikshit to make a deal and that the US justice department had crossed the line. An industry petition has lead the European Commission to begin formal investigation to ascertain whether the US was only singling out European companies.

As a result of this, one US lawmaker is eager to have the ban on internet gambling repealed. He claims that the anti-gambling law is affecting the relationship between the EU and the United States and has already hurt trade ties between them.

Who says the house always wins?, by Michael Pascoe - The Sydney Morning Herald - 18th February 2009

In an ominous move for our local would-be international casino boss, Trump Entertainment Resorts and nine related companies filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection overnight.

Who said the house always wins?

On Friday Donald Trump resigned as chairman of Trump Entertainment. ''I quit'' remains a step above ''you're fired'' for the obnoxious self-promoter with the bad comb-over.

The bottom line is the same, though, for the three Trump casinos in Atlantic City, New Jersey - they can't meet their loan payments.

Unlike Australia's cozy monopoly casino regime, where state governments give their operator of choice sole rights to a city or whole state, running casinos overseas can entail the same problems of any other business - competition and over-capacity in a slowing market.

Trump Entertainment isn't the only US casino outfit in trouble - a symptom of Las Vegas' strife is that it has the third-highest mortgage foreclosure rate in the US. And it's not just in the US that mug punters are having second thoughts about throwing away their money when they're fearful of losing their jobs.

Machinations

In Macau, the Vegas of Asia, there is the extra difficulty of Beijing deciding it really shouldn't be letting a legion of corrupt cadres hand over stolen millions to Stanley Ho and James Packer, among others. The clamp down on Chinese visas to Macau is hurting, never mind the usual impact of an economic slowdown on such a highly discretionary spend.

Packer is plunging hard on Macau. His second casino there, City of Dreams, is due to open in April and a third is being developed. Despite being in partnership with Lawrence Ho - son of Stanley who previously enjoyed a Macau monopoly - Macau has become a competitive market.

Las Vegas is extremely competitive. Last month the Nevada Gaming Commission gave Packer's Crown Ltd unanimous permission for its latest American bet - $2.7 billion to buy Cannery Casino Resorts which runs three casinos in Vegas and is building a casino in Pennsylvania.

The Cannery acquisition is on top of two costly Vegas minority investments - nearly 20% of the new Fontainebleau casino and 37.5% of the planned $5.6 billion Crown Las Vegas. And let's not forget $414 million apparently blown on a 2.5% stake in Harrah's and 4.9% of Station Casinos.

The common element in Packer's casino bets is that they have been made at the top of the market in an industry heavily dependent on tourism. The US punt is at the centre of the global recession, while the cream of the Macau business depends on Beijing's willingness to hand out dubious visas.

There is an ethical consideration somewhere in there as well about what sort of people are happy to take money stolen from peasants, as the cash of any high-rolling Chinese bureaucrat is likely to be.

888.com Hosts Charity Poker Tournament for Australia Wildfire Victims - Gambling911 - 17th February 2009

Gambling911.com applauds 888.com for its efforts in trying to raise money for those affected by the wildfires in Australia last week. Our friend, The Media Man, has advised that 888.com will be hosting an online poker tournament to help Australia wildfire victims. The publicly traded online gambling firm has been making some serious inroads into Australia over the last year.

Sadly, the wildfire death toll heading into Wednesday (Australia time) had reached 200.

A judge launched an inquiry into the deadly Australian wildfires on Tuesday as authorities announced they would find ways to make the region safer before the next season of inevitable blazes.

Media Man, Greg Tingle, questioned why one individual had been fined by environmentalists for clearing trees and brush away from his property prior to the fires.

"He was the only survivor in his neighborhood," said Tingle.

The nightmarish blazes tore across Victoria with 400 fires destroying more than 1,800 homes and scorching about 1,500 square miles (3,900 square kilometers) of farms, forests and towns.

Police suspect at least two of the fires were deliberately set, and have charged one man with arson causing death and lighting a wildfire. Brendan Sokaluk, 39, faces a maximum sentence of 25 years on the first charge and 15 years on the second. He was being held in protective custody to prevent revenge attacks against him.

A class-action lawsuit was filed against electricity supplier SP AusNet, alleging that defective power lines caused losses and damage in connection with one of the fires. SP AusNet, which is 51 percent owned by the Singapore Power Group, said it would "vigorously defend" the claim.

As for the online poker tournament, details appear below:

Due to the tragic events caused by the bushfires in the Victoria region,

888 will be hosting the "Bushfire Relief Charity Tournament" to help

families in need. The No-Limit Texas Hold'em tournament will take place

on Sunday, February 22nd at 8:30pm AEDT. The buy-in for this tournament

will be $30 and all buy-ins (and re-buys) will be donated to the relief

efforts. Entrants to this special tournament will be playing for great

prizes donated by 888;

1st place: $500 US

2nd place: $300 US

3rd place: $200 US

4th-10th place: Free entry into the 888 NZ Poker Champs Sunday Qualifier

on March 1 ($120 Value)

As well as these great prizes, if you knock out 888 ambassadors Brendan Fevola (bfevola25) or Jeff Fenech (fenech888) you will receive an $50 bounty prize (credited next day).

We hope you take this opportunity to Enjoy The Game while helping your fellow Australian families during this difficult time. Thank you for your support.

Marvel Slots Online Showcases Movie Slots Hitman and Tomb Raider

14th February 2009

Marvel Slots Online, the popular website portal for all things Marvel slots, has branched out due to industry demand and is now showcasing games which are non Marvel branded.

Marvel Slots Online and Media Man Australia director Greg Tingle said, "Numerous agencies and a number of game players have been asking us for while now about featuring more games, not just Marvel games, so we have made the decision to give the corporates and punters what they want and provide more game themes across a variety of games. Marvel makes great comics, films and games, but there's many other brands putting out fantastic move themed slots with massive appeal so that's the direction we're going in".

Marvel Slots Online is dedicated to Stan Lee, Marvel Comics icon, who incidentally has been recently in legal discussions with Marvel and a number of other entities on complicated copyright issues.

Marvel Slots Online newest game editions will be Microgaming's Tomb Raider and Hitman, and other entities expected to follow suit and launch games on the portal include PartyGaming (PartyCasino.com), Virgin Games and PKR.

Media Man Australia director and founder, Greg Tingle, has a business arrangement in place with an agency representing the JackpotCity branded games, Tomb Raider and Hitman.

Marvel Slots Online is part of the Media Man Australia group which includes Casino News Media, Australian Casino News and Australian Sports Entertainment.

Underbelly: A Tale of Two Cities to Employ Gambling Theme - Gambling911.com - 12th February 2009

Gambling911.com has learned that upcoming episodes of Underbelly: A Tale of Two Cities will feature "some casino and gambling themes". The show's second season was the highest rated launch in Australia's history.

George Freeman, played by Peter O'Brien, ran a number of Australian casinos (gambling houses... "with no name" and unadvertised, sort of the opposite of casinos to that of the James Packer's Crown Casino (which is all above board and advertised, mainstream and is legal etc).

As we have come to learn, the world of casinos and bookmaking in Australia is quite fascinating to say the least, and this should play in superbly with the Underbelly: A Tale of Two Cities theme.

Media man, Greg Tingle gives us a taste of the old school gambling lifestyle in Australia:

"My grandfather, Eric Fraser Cameron Tingle ran a SP bookmaker operation from Newport Beach plant nursery which also doubled as a barber shop... tripled as a SP hangout. Today Newport Beach TAB is next door. A decade ago I used to regularly have a punt at the TAB with the late, great (and notorious) Big Time Bristow.

"I caught up with Tim at his home at Newport, just around the corner from my old home at Pittwater, 3 weeks before Tim's unfortunate (and natural) death. I pointed to Chris Master's book entitled 'Not for publication' and the chapter entitled, Guilty Buildings'. I recalled to Tim, ‘That's you isn't it Tim?' TB replied, ‘You nailed it in one Greg'. That's the scoop... its never been published or put in the public domain before." (Credit: Gambling911.com)

Australia Ecstatic Over Heath Ledger Oscar Odds - Gambling911 - 10th February 2009

Heath Ledger's odds of winning an Oscar for his portrayal of the Joker in "Batman: The Dark Night" were listed at a whopping 1/66 at Sportingbet.com. He's a bigger lock to win "Best Supporting Actor" than Jamie Foxx was to take home the Oscar a few years back for "Ray". In other words, Ledger is the closest thing to a "lock" in the betting world as the New York Yankees would be beating a little league squad.

The Media Man, Greg Tingle, tells Gambling911.com that everyone in Ledger's native Australia will be tuned in to watch the Oscars later this month.

"Australia is very excited about the Heath Ledger being nominated," Tingle Said. "I never heard anyone ever say a bad word about him. Heath used to live just down the road from us at Bronte Beach, however, one or two rabid paparazzi saw Health generally keep a lower public profile in the proceeding 12 months prior to his untimely death. Like many actors, artists and talented arty types, his fame grew after he left us, and Australia still loves him despite Ledger's sometimes problem with drugs, which ultimately cost him his life."

Still, it will be a bittersweet moment. Ledger died at the age of 28, from an accidental "toxic combination of prescription drugs". Likewise, Australia is reeling from a series of bush fires that have taken nearly 200 lives.

"Australia is in somewhat of a doubly somber mood at the moment with the reminder of Ledger no longer being amongst us in addition to many of us having friends and contacts adversely effected by the terrible bushfire's in Victoria which have cost over 150 lives, and even more tragic, some of the fires have been found to be deliberately lit. Our Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd has called it ‘mass murder'.

"The Oscars could give Australia and indeed the western world some light relief and all important escapism from Mother Earth's current woes, much of which are man made."

"The Oscars have every chance of breaking ratings and viewership records and no doubt that's exactly what advertisers and sponsors will be hoping for." (Credit: Gambling911)

Online Gambling Heating Up in Australia - Marketing Magazine

The world of online casinos and igaming is really heating up down under in Australia, as recently reported on Gambling911.

I own and operate Sydney based media, publicity and portal development company, Media Man Australia. We recently made the Hitwise Australia top ten awards for the fifth year running in the entertainment - personalities category. We're averaging 1 million hits per month, and that's just on our main website, never mind the other half dozen sites.

The interest and growth in the online casino and igaming sector over the past 6 - 12 months has been significant enough for us to justify opening a dedicated online casino arm, Casino News Media. This also compliments our Australian Sports Entertainment website. We're also looking at a dedicated website portal themed for Australian casino news.

In the past month alone we have driven forward companies with Ezybet, The Bingo Affiliates, BetCruise and JackpotCity, and we're also doing some major b2b affiliate based campaigns with PartyGaming - PartyPartners, Virgin Games, PKR and Rewards Affiliates.

Captain Cooks Casino, established in 1999, is also going really well, which demonstrates that geographic location does make a difference even to online gamblers, Aussie themed online casinos compliment Aussie website portals, and that being able to receive (and pay) funds in a variety of currencies is an advantage. The Bingo Affiliates also have dedicated websites for many regions, with portals for Australia, Canada and France. BetCruise has taken the cruise liner and lifestyle look and feel theme to their website, and also promotes the trust factor in their casino. Captain Cooks, Virgin, JackpotCity and Rewards Affiliates are also well trusted, especially for the online casino industry.

Part of our strategy involves matching up tradition media coverage to new media, having the right balance of news, publicity and online advertising, and spreading the traffic across a variety of website portals, which all compliment each other. As we grow new websites are developed and launched, in line with increased traffic and revenues. We're soon expanding again with projects relating to World Poker Tour, World Series of Poker, Paramount Pictures and Marvel Slot Online, based on Marvel entertainment super hero online slots.

Mainstream entertainment themes have generally adapted well to online gaming, and one need not look further than the slots by Marvel including The Hulk, Spider-Man and Fantastic Four, and PartyCasino's The Terminator, The Godfather, TOP GUN, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE, and Saturday Night Live. My sources tell me that the online casino world can soon expected themed slots on Rambo, Frank Sinatra and Dungeons & Dragons.

Having the right partners and alliances continues to play an important role. For live and near live newsfeeds we have Fairfax, The New York Times, search - Google, web hosting - SIS Group, and very good relationships with News Limited, CasinoAffiliatePrograms.com, Gambling911 and other gaming and mainstream press, including in the all important Las Vegas and New York.

Online casino news portal development is also a low risk business, opposed to owning and operating a traditional casino, as I'm certain bean counters at Crown, Tabcorp, Trump and Las Vegas Sands could attest to.

It's all a battle for the entertainment dollar, eyeballs, traffic, advertisers and customers.

With all things considered, the news portal and online casino news portal development sector would appear to be an attractive industry vertical to operate in. We've most certainly found it to be an exciting, fun and profitable sector.

Scoop - The Australian newspaper to run a special 6 to 8 page feature on gambling, gaming and betting this March. Be watching out for 'The Punt'.

PartyGaming Announces Fourth Quarter 2008 KPI’s, New Gaming Agreement, by Earl Burton - Poker News Daily - 6th February 2009

On Friday, the publicly traded online gaming company PartyGaming PLC announced their fourth quarter 2008 Key Performance Indicators, which were lower compared to the fourth quarter of the year previous but overall showed the company with a profit for the entirety of 2008.

For the period ending on December 31st, 2008, PartyGaming earned profits of $100.4 million, a drop of about 18% against the $122.4 million that the company made in the same time period during 2007. Overall for the year, PartyGaming was able to show a profit in earning $472.9 million, or a 3% increase over 2007’s earnings of $457.8 million.

Citing the worldwide financial downturn, continued unbalanced competition against U. S. facing poker rooms and currency exchange rates as some of the factors behind the fourth quarter decline, Jim Ryan, the Chief Executive Officer of PartyGaming, still was confident of the company’s continued growth for the upcoming year. In a statement during the announcement of PartyGaming’s performance, Ryan stated, “We continue to make solid progress in the execution of our strategy. The relaunch of PartyPoker has gone well, as has our new VIP and loyalty program, with player numbers up eight percent over the previous quarter. Our business to business strategy is also progressing well.”

“Trading conditions have remained tough with an unlevel playing field in poker and the appreciation of the U. S. dollar against other currencies continuing to impact top line performance. However, currency movements had a corresponding benefit on our costs and, consequently, we anticipate Clean EBITDA for the full year to be slightly ahead of market expectations,” Ryan said.

When it comes to the discussions between the company and the U. S. Department of Justice, Ryan continued to be optimistic that there will be a satisfactory conclusion to those negotiations. “Our discussions with the U. S. Department of Justice continue to progress in line with our expectations and the execution of our strategic plan, together with tight control over our cost base, means we look forward to making further progress to consolidate our position as the world’s leading listed online gaming company,” Ryan confidently said.

During the announcement of PartyGaming’s fourth quarter KPI’s, Ryan also announced a new agreement with a Spanish gaming company that will expand their global footprint. The three year agreement between PartyGaming and the Barcelona based CIRSA Gaming Corporation, S.A. will allow PartyGaming to work alongside CIRSA in the exploration and development of Internet gaming opportunities in Latin America and other Spanish speaking countries.

CIRSA is a thirty year old company that has a tremendous base in the traditional “brick and mortar” gaming industry. The company has 13,000 employees and activities in more than seventy countries. CIRSA owns and operates bingo halls, casinos and amusement arcades around the world and has market leadership in the gaming arena in Spain, where it has 57 bingo clubs, four casinos and 139 amusement arcades. It has also established a strong presence in Latin and South America.

Ryan was enthused about the possibilities for PartyGaming to expand further into the worldwide gaming arena through the association with CIRSA. “Our agreement with CIRSA is part of our stated strategy to develop a strong business-to-business operation through alliances with leading companies around the world. We believe the combination of CIRSA’s assets with our online gaming expertise will create a major opportunity for both companies, especially throughout the Spanish speaking world,” Ryan commented. Ol' Blue Eyes to Feature in New Party Games

A quiet quarter four at PartyGaming, but good things in store

February 6, 2009 (InfoPowa News) -- The London-listed online gambling group PartyGaming has released a trading update that reveals a quiet quarter, but some interesting products and developments in store.

Key performance indicators released this week include:

* Group revenue down 15 percent at $100.4 million (2007: $122.4 million) making $472.9 million for the full year, a 3 percent increase over 2007.

* Currency movements, the relaunch of PartyPoker and increased competition affected revenue in the quarter, but Clean EBITDA margins were better than anticipated.

* It is expected that clean EBITDA for the full year to be at least $143.0 million (2007: $111.7 million), up 28 percent year-on-year and slightly ahead-of-market expectations.

* Exclusive rights have been obtained for an online slot game using the Frank Sinatra brand and a world-leading video game from Capcom Entertainment, Inc.

* B2B strategy on track with CIRSA agreement just announced.

Commenting on the Group's full-year revenue and fourth-quarter KPIs, Jim Ryan, Chief Executive Officer, said: "We continue to make solid progress in the execution of our strategy.

"The relaunch of PartyPoker has gone well, as has our new VIP and loyalty programme, with player numbers up 8 percent over the previous quarter.

"Our business-to-business strategy is also progressing well. In a separate release today we have announced the signing of a three-year exclusive agreement to explore and develop online gaming opportunities in Spanish-speaking countries with CIRSA, one of Europe's leading offline leisure and gaming companies.

“Trading conditions have remained tough with an un-level playing field in poker and the appreciation of the U.S. dollar against other currencies continuing to impact top line performance. However, currency movements had a corresponding benefit on our costs and, consequently, we anticipate clean EBITDA for the full year to be slightly ahead of market expectations.

“Our discussions with the U.S. Department of Justice continue to progress in line with our expectations and the execution of our strategic plan together with tight control over our cost base means we look forward to making further progress to consolidate our position as the world’s leading listed online gaming company.”

The quarter ended 31 December 2008 was recorded as producing:

* Daily average players 68,900 -- down 8 percent on Q4 2007.

* Yield per active player day of $15.80, down 21 percent on Q4 in 2007

* New real money signups over the quarter were 168,000, a 22 percent increase over Q4 2007

*Average daily revenue recorded at $1,090,800, down 15 percent on the corresponding period in 2007

Management reported: "We estimate the impact of foreign exchange movements to have adversely impacted revenues in the fourth quarter by more than $15.0 million.

Continued competitive pressures, particularly in poker, were noted where sites that continue to take bets from U.S. customers are "distorting the market." In addition, a delay in the launch of the Party’s new loyalty scheme affected player frequency, these factors contributing to a 14 percent decline in active player days year-on-year.

While yields and player frequency were adversely affected during the period, the number of new player sign-ups increased by 22 percent and the number of unique active players increased by 8 percent versus the previous quarter, reflecting good growth in poker, casino and sports. The volume of new bingo players fell quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year following the reduced programming schedule for Bingo Night Live on ITV1 in the UK.

Party is following up on its successes in converting top movie titles to slot games by securing licenses to develop slots using one of the world’s most popular video games from Capcom Entertainment, Inc. and, separately, using the Frank Sinatra brand.

The enduring Sinatra brand remains one of the world’s best loved and most recognized entertainment icons. Under the terms of a three-year exclusive agreement with Frank Sinatra Enterprises, Party expects to launch an exclusive online slot game during the second quarter of 2009 using the Sinatra brand as well as original recordings of his music including “New York, New York” and “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire”.

Online Gambling Heating Up in Australia - Gambling911 - 6th February 2009

The online gambling industry is really starting to get hot in Australia it seems.

The land down under is seen as the land of opportunities, but it is often forgotten by the folks up north. That's not so much the case with the online gambling sector. Last month we watched with excitement as the Aussie Millions Poker Tournament turned out yet another millionaire. It's now among the most popular live tournaments in the world today.

Many of the world's top online casino brands have been doing the ring around down under to see what media, PR, spin and online exposure mileage they can secure in the land known to be settled by convicts, back in the days when Captain Cook set shore and 1000s of Aboriginals were murdered in the progress.

Well known media analyst and entrepreneur, Greg Tingle of Media Man Australia is taking his share of the phone calls and letters of enquiry.

"We're been doing business with some some of the world's top online casino brands for a number of years now... Virgin Games, PKR, 888, WPT and Betfair. Recently the amount of enquiries coming in has been huge," Tingle told Gambling911.com Friday. "We've locked down business deals with PartyPartners, Slotland, JackpotCity, The Bingo Affiliates, BetCruise, and recently we joined our mates down the road here at Bondi Beach... Rewards Affiliates.

"Captain Cooks Casino has been hugely popular, but I haven't figured out whether it's the Bondi Beach locals or international whales coming to our region to check out the bronzed Aussies. We were privileged to spearhead the Ezybet sports betting media and publicity campaign which attracted major Australian and international interest."

Most of the excitement centering around the Australian sports betting sector has to do with deals being reached with the NRL (National Rugby League).

"The NRL (National Rugby League) is like a religion in Australia, and punters love having a punt," said Tingle. "The massive campaign was impossible to miss, and sources at the NRL are even looking at following some aspects of the TitansBet (Gold Coast Titans) business model".

Tingle also says, "There was also good interest by worldwide online casino entities to penetrate Australia, but the Ezybet exposure and worldwide story has really lit a fire under the industry."

More online casinos and poker sites will be entering the Australian market in the coming months, Tingle advised. (Credit: Gambling911)

CAP Euro London "Biggest Affiliate Event Ever"

Industry-leading iGaming Affiliate Directory CasinoAffiliatePrograms.com Announces Success in Latest Affiliate Conference, Reported to be the Biggest Yet

February 3, 2009 (CAP Newswire) -- CasinoAffiliatePrograms.com ("CAP"), the world’s largest and longest-running affiliate marketing directory for the online gaming industry, has announced that this year’s CAP Euro London, which just wrapped up in London on Sunday, was a huge success, and the company's largest ever event.

"With more than 1,600 people in attendance -- almost double last year’s turnout -- this year's CAP Euro London was our biggest and most successful event yet," commented Alex Pratt, an organizer of the event. “Even more importantly, these numbers make this not only the biggest affiliate conference ever to be held in Europe, but also the biggest iGaming affiliate event of all time, period!

"And so far the feedback has been excellent," continued Mr. Pratt. "We've been receiving rave reviews about everything from the speakers and discussion panels, to the venue and parties."

Taking place over the weekend of January 30 to February 1 at the award-winning Novotel London hotel, CAP Euro London is CAP’s flagship conference, and has come to be known as the iGaming affiliate marketing world’s signature event.

In addition to offering CAP’s renowned brand of business networking, online marketing speaker sessions, and after-hours socializing, CAP Euro London kicked off with the hotly anticipated 2009 CAP Awards — the second annual awards celebration celebrating the most successful and innovative members of the worldwide iGaming affiliate industry, as voted upon by the community.

"We couldn’t be prouder to report our most successful affiliate conference yet -- especially in light of a number of international threats to our industry, as represented by UIGEA and similar legislation around the globe," stated Lou Fabiano, the founder and president of CAP. “This was a very positive, even historic moment for our industry, bringing the affiliate community together in larger-than-ever numbers.

"Given that fact, it's a shame that some websites, in an attempt to ramp up their site visits via spreading salacious rumors, have chosen to take the low road, falsely depicting CAP Euro in a negative light instead of reporting on the truly groundbreaking and historic nature of this event.

“But we want to remind all CAP community members that, because of the success we all continue to share, we’ll inevitably continue to be a target for lesser, envious parties. Let’s not let that take away from all our success, and let’s not allow it to dampen the spirit of celebration we’ve all worked so hard to achieve.”

Up next on the schedule of CAP events is the popular CAP Spring Break, held this year in sunny Cancun, Mexico. And following that is the all-new CAP Euro Amsterdam conference, scheduled for April 30 through May 3 in Amsterdam.

The upcoming Amsterdam event is predicted to raise the CAP Euro stakes even higher. The conference is being planned in partnership with Affiliates4u’s upcoming Amsterdam Expo, and organizers expect more than 2,000 people to be in attendance.

More than 50 exhibitors are already lined up for CAP Euro Amsterdam, including PartyPartners, Betway, TwoLinx, Affiliate SpeedPay, Commission Warehouse, 888.com, Slotland, Hollywood Affiliates, CentreBet, C-Planet, Mamma Mia, Betfair, Referback, Intertops, Rome Casino, Chilli Poker, Kharma Partners, Unibet, Scratch2Cash, Tower Affiliates, PokerHeaven, DevilFish Poker, Lucky 18 Casino, Bet365, Partnerlogic, Ladbrokes, BetUS, ChipLeader, SlotoCash, Europa Point Services, Cake Poker, Boyle Sports, Communicator Corp, PokerStars, Ned Affiliates, Expekt, SportingBet, William Hill Online, Playshare, Smart Live Affiliates, Wager Share, Prime Partners, EGO, Villento, Full Tilt Poker, Red Returns, Vegas Affiliates, and many others.

Poker Mayhem in London as Affiliates Involved in Brawl - Gambling911 - 30th January 2009

The award-winning Novotel London West in Hammersmith, West London, was the scene of a massive brawl late Friday involving members of two different online poker affiliate groups. Police were called to the scene to disperse the crowd. Some witnesses were now telling Gambling911.com that a GPWA member, Steven Corfman, had been assaulted.

A heated argument ensued between organizers of Casino Affiliate Programs (CAP) and the Gambling Portal Webmasters Association has broken out in the London hotel where a CAP affiliate event was taking place.

"The details are still sketchy but apparently the show organizers instructed security to remove GPWA staff from the hotel (not the show) by any means necessary," the website Poker Affiliates Listings reported on Friday evening. "Apparently Steven Corfman (a member of the GPWA team) took the brunt of it and was assaulted in front of everybody by security in the lobby while being screamed at by CAP staff."

"I was unfortunately in my room when this happened," a terrified attendee relayed on the PAL forum. "I came down to the lobby and it was a massive panic. People were yelling and the Professor (Lou Fabiono) was screaming at J Todd (GPWA) to 'step outside and fight him' in front of us all. I am not going back into the show."

A month long feud has taken place on public message boards involving CAP and GPWA organizers with accusations that CAP was running a "rogue" online poker room called CardSpike.com.

ACPW, which is operated by the Gambling Portal Webmasters Association, reported that Lou Fabiono (organizer of CAP) asked ACPW's J. Todd to step outside to "settle this like men".

"Todd asked Lou if he was sure about it and Lou said lets go, so they start walking to the door. An affiliate manager got in front of them and told Todd it was not a good idea and Todd agreed. Lou however did not, it took a couple of people to calm Lou down. Warren showed up and told Todd he would never threaten him and shook Todd's hand."

Fabiono has a heart condition. Security may have been responsible for any injuries sustained by Steven Corfman, son of GPWA organizer, Michael Corfman.
